- HB Department of Public Works (HPDPW) insists no permits will be
required for any work on the Slater Pump Station
- Stated that Pumps #4 & #5 were installed without County permits
- Orange County records show that ALL inlets to EGGWC (C05) were properly
permitted by HB – David Webb, County of Orange 9/4/02
- Original permits (1964 & 1965)
- Additional pumps to the C05 channel, 3 outlet repairs & 5 new
outlets constructed (5/15/75)
- Parkside EIR (5/27/98 & 8/10/01)
- Orange County has responded to HB and stated:
- Permits Will be Required
- Only the issue of the discharge quantity has been addressed
- Does not address the issue of bacteriological discharge

- Much of the land is below sea level
- Land elevation requiring substantial fill
- Remains of the original wetlands still exists
- Salt tolerant plants are still present
- Wetlands validation

- Historical maps show area as a wetlands
- Original ocean inlet was through the beach south of Warner Avenue

- Structured wetlands – Public acquisition
- Provide a filter basin for the EGGWC
- Natural treatment for water purification prior to entering outer Bolsa
Chica Bay and Huntington Harbour
- Provides a buffer for flood control
- Provides additional wildlife habitat
- Working successfully for the Irvine Ranch Water District
- San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary
- Just announced that a land parcel at the El Toro Base is being
earmarked as a structured wetlands
