Bartlett Park is located in Huntington Beach just east of Beach Blvd between Yorktown and Adams.  It serves a triple purpose as a park, a wetlands, and a flood control retention basin.  This could be a possible model for the Parkside property.

These digital photographs were taken on February 16, 2002.  Click on each image for a hi-res version.

This image was taken looking southeast from almost the highest elevation within the park.  The back of the Albertsons store is out of frame to the right.

At the bottom of the above trail, a storm drain enters the north end of the park, carrying urban runoff as primary water source for the park.

Just add water, even scummy ubran runoff water...

...and voila!  You get dense natural vegetation...

This dense vegetation extends southward...

The flood depth indicator tops out at about 13.5 feet, so as a retention basin Bartlett Park can hold quite a bit of water!

The vegetation thins out towards the southern end of the park, and the Newland House barn becomes visible.

Here's where the water finally drains out of the park.  The intersection to the right of the floodgates is Beach & Adams.
